MARIANNE ALTO: YOUR VOICE ON VICTORIA CITY COUNCIL
VICTORIA – With broad support from across Victoria and the most comprehensive platform of any candidate, Marianne Alto is campaigning to be the voice for all residents in the November 20th by-election for Victoria City Council.
“I’m proud that my campaign has been focused on practical ideas and a positive vision for Victoria’s future,” said Alto. “From homelessness to transportation, open government and arts and culture, I laid out specific ideas for voters to consider as they make their decision on who is best to represent them.”
During the campaign, Marianne received endorsements from prominent Victorians such as Denise Savoie, Gordy Dodd and Gretchen Brewin, as well as neighbourhood activists such as Tony Sprackett of Fernwood, Grant Keddie of Vic West and Maureen Applewhaite of Fairfield.
“My strength is in bringing people of diverse perspectives together towards shared goals,” said Alto. “I’m honoured by the tremendous support from Victorians across many sectors, and I am committed to representing all of them on City Council after November 20.”
“Effective representation begins with respecting voters. On the Johnson Street Bridge, I am on the record as supporting the YES option in the referendum, as I believe a new bridge is the best option for our economy, our environment and our community.”
“That said, I recognize the voters will have the final say in the referendum, and I will respect their decision.”
Alto stressed the importance of voter turnout in Saturday’s by-election.“I encourage all eligible Victorians to cast their ballots on November 20th,” said Alto. “We need an engaged electorate to help shape the crucial decisions facing our city over the coming years, and that begins with coming out to vote on Election Day. I am looking forward to a strong turnout on Saturday and to continued dialogue with Victorians in the future, regardless of the by-election result.”
